das disko
a few years back james whittle and simon carpenter created something completely new, fresh and exciting for the skagsville scene; this was das disko. a night for the alternative kids to get dancing, das disko was an instant success. one thing the das disko boys are not is predictable, das disko comes around once every often and always serves as a treat to the town. past dazis have been at the playhouse and recently moved to the dog. next one is in leeds boys and girls, so if you want to see em then you’re gonna have to travel.
i have a dream
finally a light in the dark. well produced tracks and some you can find yourself lost in, easily getting carried away by mogwai-esque piano loops and the multiple layers of effect drenched guitar on the eponymous track “i have a dream”. or by the bouncing portamento tinged synth sounds on “woke up in the wrong day”. some really good recordings of nic perry, and tom dawsons ‘best made plans’ are found on this page too along with a fat remix of the wu’s “cream”
nic perry at nobody inn
problems with the sounds didn’t stop a good performance, which seemed to be letting off some pent up anger at points in reaction to the feedback coming from the ill shaped room. another fine performance from nic perry. gaz lane and james hadlow played very well despite not being able to hear themselves
